Coopetition Strategy Choice of Duopoly Manufacturers with Key Component Technology Transfer

This paper investigates the strategic choice of key component technology transfer between two rival manufacturers. A benchmark competition model and coopetition models (including fixed-fee licensing two-part tariff coopetition) where manufacturers compete for end-customer demand while simultaneously collaborating on through licensing. By comparing outcomes models, it is shown that: (1) The optimal strategy depends degree product substitution, interfirm power relationship as well production cost difference components. Among them, has most significant impact choice. (2) Under certain conditions, fixed fees patent can achieve Pareto improvement reduce retail price products, which beneficial to both consumers. (3) components significantly affects whether under models.
